Did you know that a recent superhero film included cameos from two Hyundai vehicles? The all-new IONIQ 5 and all-new Tucson both made brief appearances in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” as part of an exciting partnership between Sony Pictures and Hyundai.
Leading up to the film’s release last December, a pair of commercials aired online and on televisions globally. The long-form “Only Way Home” commercial stars Tom Holland as a stranded Peter Parker after the events of the previous film. As he’s suited up as Spider-Man and walking along a deserted highway, his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) pulls up in the all-electric IONIQ 5 to take Peter back to New York City to face his fate.
The second commercial includes actual clips from “No Way Home,” with Peter standing atop the new Tucson as he prepares to face a villain. Additional footage of the Tucson zooming through city streets accompanies the film scenes, with a disclaimer unfortunately stating that web shooters are not included with the sporty SUV.
This isn’t the first time Hyundai vehicles have partnered with superheroes — and it won’t be the last. A custom Hyundai Veloster appeared in “Ant-Man and the Wasp” as Ant-Man’s getaway vehicle. Hyundai also has campaigns for the new “Uncharted” film as well as the upcoming “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One),” set to debut in October.
