The Elantra has been a part of the Hyundai lineup for more than 30 years and is highly regarded as a reliable, stylish sedan. Over time, the model has received various updates — inside and out. Now, Hyundai is giving the popular sedan the “N” treatment, replete with performance-inspired features.
Till Wartenberg, Vice President of the N brand Management & Motorsport sub-division at Hyundai Motor Company, referred to the Elantra N as a high-performance sedan and noted, “We designed it to be a race proven sports car with dynamic driving capabilities and style that performance enthusiasts love. I can’t wait to unveil Elantra N, an outstanding addition to the N brand lineup that offers pulse-pounding performance. Stay tuned for the digital world premiere.”
While no official specs have been released just yet, we can assume the Elantra will get similar ratings as the Veloster N hatchback and Kona N hot SUV. Both models are equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo GDI engine that delivers 276 horsepower. For reference, the standard 2021 Elantra can reach a maximum of 147 horsepower with its current 2.0-litre engine. Additional possible updates include multiple driving modes, launch control, and an electronic limited-slip differential.
The new Elantra N will also receive aesthetic updates to align with the N brand. Based on the teaser images released by Hyundai, we’ll see five-spoke wheels with a unique V-Y layout, red brake calipers with “N” branding, a rear spoiler, black trim under the bumper, dual single exhaust outlets, and red side sills.
Stay tuned for more details about the Hyundai Elantra N as they become available. Our team at Downtown Hyundai is excited to see this new model arrive at our lot in Toronto, Ontario.
